During the three days of the Viscom/Sign España 2007 trade show – held 18-20 October – 14,513 registered visitors passed through the Feria de Madrid (Ifema) fairground’s digital entrance turnstiles. This figure represents a 10.26% increase over the previous edition – which saw 13,163 visits – confirming the initial impression of event attendees. On this occasion, 237 companies took part as exhibitors – from 13 countries around the world – occupying a net area of 11,865 m2 (over 22,000 m2 gross) in Ifema’s Pavilion 10. The dates which have been selected for the next trade show are 16-18 October 2008.
In the year the show celebrates its 20th anniversary – with a variety of entertainment activities and a party for exhibitors held to commemorate this event – the organisers, Reed Exhibitions Iberia, inaugurated Área Design, a clearly defined space which welcomed companies from the graphic design and digital pre-press sector. The new area succeeded in attracting 20 companies – occupying 547 m2. Meanwhile, Área CVPV (launched during the previous edition for the visual communication at point-of-sale sector) hosted 50 companies – around 1,726 m2.
In addition to having the chance to take advantage of the many business opportunities offered by the digital printing and graphic design equipment industry, visitors were able to choose from amongst a wide range of associated activities which enabled them to discover the latest trends in visual communication. The Viscom/Sign España 2007 show once again presented a wide range of educational and exhibition activities. Of special note amongst the varied offerings were the Trade Marketing and Meeting & Select workshops, which gave a voice to noteworthy marketing and design professionals. Additionally, the 8th Letra Awards – presented in recognition of creativity in signage and signs – and the 12th Anuaria Awards – which recognise the best work in Spanish design – were presented in two official ceremonies.
