16-18 October 2008, the Viscom-Sign España trade show will once again gather the entire digital printing and other visual communications equipment industry in Madrid. On this occasion, the 21st edition of the specialised event will be held in the new Pavilions 12 and 14 of the Institución Ferial de Madrid (Ifema) fairground, modern exhibition spaces offering the latest advances. With this edition, the event organiser – Reed Exhibitions Iberia – expects to attract 250 exhibitors, who will occupy a net area of approximately 14,000 m2 (25,000 m2 gross).
To make visiting the show easier, it will continue to be separated into three exhibition areas. Área Viscom-Sign will still be the category occupying the most space, bringing together companies working in large-format digital printing, digital printing systems for textiles and signage, outdoor advertising and signs, to mention just a few of their activities. In addition, with each edition, an increasing number of companies have participated in Área CVPV – a clearly defined space for companies from the visual communication at point-of-sale sector – and Área Design & Innovation – which includes graphic design companies, as well as various exhibitions.
Eagerly awaited conferences
16,000 visits by professionals from the sector are expected during Viscom-Sign España 2008. In order to achieve this figure, in addition to a comprehensive selection of products, visitors will also be offered an extensive programme of educational and exhibition activities. Among the most eagerly awaited Viscom-Sign España events are Meeting & Select – marking its seventh edition in 2008 – and the Trade Marketing Forum – to be held for the third time. Both events will bring together an interesting panel of speakers.
As always, the selection of activities will not end there. Professionals will be able to choose from any number of offerings, including the specialised activities from Aserluz (Spanish Association of Electric Sign Businesses and Related Industries) and AER (Spanish Reprographic Association), conferences run by CIT (Graphic Arts Technology Centre) and seminars from the company Adobe. In addition, following on from its 2006 success, the second edition of the Always Chapas exhibition will be held – with around a thousand bottle caps on display.
The best work
Taking advantage of the exceptional opportunity offered by Viscom-Sign España 2008, the 9th edition of the Letra Awards will also be held during the event. The National Visual Communication Awards are a benchmark in the world of Spanish graphic design for creativity in signage and signs. In addition, the Anuaria Awards – which have reached their thirteenth edition – recognise the creators of the best Spanish design work. Over the three days of the trade show, the winners of prestigious competitions such as Laus 08 – from the ADG-FAD Association – and the El Sol Awards from the 23rd Latin American Advertising Festival will be on display.
The necessary arrangements having been made with the government of the Community of Madrid, Viscom-Sign España has been declared one of the community’s official trade shows, giving an idea of the importance of the event. This prestigious public recognition from the authorities responsible for monitoring trade show activity in this autonomous community is supplemented by that which the professionals themselves grant by attending a trade show which, with each edition, has successfully positioned itself as an undisputed benchmark for the sector.
With a total of 14,513 registered visitors, at its last edition, Sign España 2007 provided a showcase for new products presented by 241 direct exhibitors – from 13 different countries – in a net area of 11,865 m2 (22,800 m2 gross) at Ifema’s Pavilion 10. In addition to being able to take advantage of the many business opportunities offered by the previous edition of the digital printing and graphic design industry event, visitors could choose from amongst a wide range of activities which allowed them to discover the latest trends in visual communication.
